Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and MatchCut (“MatchCut,” “we,” “us”), an early-stage startup based in Austin, Texas. They cover joinmatchcut.com and the MatchCut web app (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use MatchCut.

Who can use MatchCut

• You must be at least 13 years old.
• If you're 13 to 17, you need a parent's or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms on your behalf.
• If you list yourself as a barber, you're responsible for holding any license or approval Texas law requires for the services you offer. Students must work within the rules of their academy.

What MatchCut does, and doesn't do

MatchCut recommends barbers based on your answers. We're a matching service, not a barbershop. We don't provide haircuts, employ the barbers listed, or take part in your appointment. Booking and paying for a cut happen directly between you and the barber, usually through the barber's own booking tool.

Matches are recommendations, not guarantees. Barbers describe their own skills, prices, and availability, and we can't promise every detail is accurate or that you'll be happy with a particular cut. Any issue with an appointment is between you and the barber, though we want to hear about it.

For clients

MatchCut is free for clients. Please give honest answers to the questionnaire, since your matches depend on them, and treat barbers with respect.

For barbers

• Accurate profile. Your name, prices, specialties, location, and booking link must be accurate and kept up to date. You may not claim skills, credentials, or experience you don't have.
• Your photos. You keep ownership of the photos and content you upload. You give MatchCut a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, resize, and show them to clients, and to feature them in MatchCut promotion. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already shared in promotion.
• Permission from the people in your photos. Only upload photos you have the right to share. That includes permission from the people shown, and a parent's or guardian's permission for anyone under 18.
• Paid plans. Some barber features will require a paid plan, billed through Stripe. The price, billing period, renewal, and cancellation terms will be shown to you before you pay, and those terms are part of this agreement. Free pilot periods end on the date we tell you.

Academy codes

Academy codes are issued by participating barber academies to their enrolled students. Codes are personal: don't share or sell them. A code can expire or be revoked by the academy or by us. When it does, the student listing linked to it may change or end.

Things you may not do

• Create fake profiles or impersonate someone.
• Post content that is illegal, hateful, or sexually explicit.
• Upload content you don't have the rights to.
• Harass, threaten, or discriminate against anyone.
• Scrape, copy, or collect data from MatchCut by automated means.
• Interfere with the Service, get around its security, or access parts of it you aren't allowed to.
• Use MatchCut for anything illegal.

Our content

The MatchCut name, logo, design, matching approach, and software belong to MatchCut. You may use the Service for its intended purpose, but you may not copy, resell, or reverse-engineer it.

Other sites

MatchCut links to sites we don't run, such as barbers' booking pages and Instagram. We aren't responsible for those sites, their content, or their policies.

An early product

MatchCut is new and still being built. Features may change, appear, or go away, and the Service may sometimes be unavailable. We'll try to give notice of major changes.

Ending your use

You can stop using MatchCut at any time, and ask us to delete your information as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or remove a profile or account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any barber's services.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, MatchCut isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for anything that happens during an appointment with a barber. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid MatchCut in the 12 months before the claim.

Your responsibility

If you're a barber, you agree to cover claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your services, your content, or your breaking these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, unless the law where you live says otherwise.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as MatchCut grows. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use MatchCut after that means you accept the updated terms.
